Project name: Retention of rainwater in the village of Bystričany

Project code: 310021AID2

The main goal of the project: Reducing the risk of floods and the negative consequences of climate change

Brief description of the project: Water retention measures are designed on flat terrain in the inner village of Bystričany in the vicinity of apartment buildings and the building that houses the post office and pharmacy. The reinforced surfaces on which water retention measures are designed are used as waterproof surfaces for parking, access roads and pedestrian roads. A rain garden and part of the new planting is designed on the site of the demolished building. The goal of the construction is to drain rainwater from impermeable surfaces such as roofs, concrete and asphalt surfaces into rain gardens and gutters with functional vegetation, which will ensure the transformation of precipitation into groundwater within the existing hydrogeological structures. The use of new natural elements due to the elimination of the negative effects of climate change. Utilization of green potential to prevent overheating of urbanized locations compared to locations with vegetation and the creation of new green areas.
