Project name: Retention of rainwater in the inner village of Bystričany

Project code: 310021ATB4

The main goal of the project: Reducing the risk of floods and the negative consequences of climate change

Brief description of the project: The project deals with the construction of water retention measures in the village of Bystričany in order to retain rainwater in the proposed area. The affected parcels are owned by the municipality of Bystričany. The proposed location consists of two parts. Specifically, it is a kindergarten area and a park between family houses.
Water retention measures are proposed on flat terrain in the proposed location of the nursery school. It is about collecting rainwater from the roof of the nursery school and bringing it to the reservoir, from which the irrigation of the area will be handled.
The proposed water retention measures in the park between the family houses are designed on a slightly sloping terrain. The aim of the project is to ensure the restoration of the natural seepage of rainwater into the soil in the park, which will contribute to the replenishment of underground water supplies and at the same time reduce the temperature of the surrounding air by its gradual evaporation from the vegetation. Another significant benefit is the reduction of the risk of short-term local floods from torrential rains, which are increasingly occurring as a negative consequence of climate change in the village.

Number of proposed water retention measures: 4

Total area of water retention measures: 2425 m2.

Total area from which rainwater will be collected: 2,336.20 m2

Total amount of eligible expenses: EUR 130,890.63

The amount of the non-refundable financial contribution: EUR 124,346.10
Amount of co-financing from the recipient's own resources:   EUR 6,544.53
